What’s the catch - how does Craft make money?

We’re actively working on designing and building incredible features and services specifically for freelancers. This will include new financial products bringing you protection solutions, cash management solutions and credit solutions among others. We’ll charge for these benefits but our free solutions will remain free. We’ll never sell your data to leads providers or other product suppliers.

What if I don’t want to create a Craft account?

Great question. If you don’t want to create a profile and log in to Craft, you can still use our platform to create invoices. Easy peasy.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to create quotes or use our online payment options, or keep track of which clients have paid their invoices and when they paid. But not to worry, you can sign up at any time and create a Craft profile to take advantage of all our services.

Can I set up a company profile if I am just an individual?

Yes. If you haven’t registered as a company, you can sign up in your own name, as an individual.

How do I complete the signup process after adding company details?

Once you’ve added your company profile, you’re all set.

How many quotes and invoices can I create for free?

Go wild, you can create as many as you want.

Can I download my quote or invoice to send manually?

Yes, just click on the three dots next to the “email” button and select “PDF”

Can I set up recurring invoices?

Good news! If you have clients on retainer or if you regularly need to invoice the same client for the same type of work, you can automate that process. Just set up a recurring invoice. It works the same way as a normal invoice – add the client and all the work info, and then choose your recurrence window – for example monthly or quarterly. Then the magic happens: your recurring invoices will create themselves.

When the date you chose arrives, your invoice will be automatically created and you’ll find it in your invoices section when you log in to Craft. Then all you have to do is send the email to your client. Every time the system creates an invoice for you after that first invoice, you’ll get an email reminding you to go into Craft and send it. Recurring invoice groups are a simple way to automatically create and store invoices that you need to send regularly.

What is the Craft Protection Club?

When one of your invoices gets paid through a Craft Pay option, you will automatically become a member of the Craft Protection Club, at no charge to you. Members of the Craft Protection Club qualify for cash payments in the case of an accidental injury that stops you from earning your income. We’ll pay out up to 6 x your invoice amount if its paid through Craft Pay options. The more invoices paid through Craft Pay, the more you may claim from the Craft Protection Club.

How does Craft Protection Club work?

The Craft Protection Club provides a maximum of R500,000 per month in total for all members to protect them against accidental injuries that result in them being unable to do their job.

When you create an invoice through our platform and ensure that it is paid through any of our Craft Pay options, you qualify for the Craft Protection Club. You can then claim an amount up to six times the value of the invoice, with an overall cap of R150,000 for each Craft client.

The amount that may be claimed will depend on the severity of the injury, the other claims made against the R500,000 monthly pool in that month, and whether the claim meets the claims criteria.

How long does Craft Protect last after my invoice?

The protection lasts for 6 months after your invoice is paid with one of the Craft Pay options.

For example, if you’re paid R10k on January 31, you’ll be protected for up to R60k until 1 August. Then if you’re paid R10k on 28 February, you’ll be protected for R120k until 1 August and R60k until 1 September.

Every time you get paid, we give you 6x the amount in protection for 6 months. The more invoices you get paid, the more protection you get – up to a limit of R150 000 per person and an overall limit of R500 000 of pay outs per month across all users of Craft Protect.

What can I claim for through the Craft Protection Club?

It's simple. If you get booked off work by a medical specialist for injuries as a result of an accident, we will pay you. The amount you are paid depends on the severity of your injury.

How do I setup SnapScan as a payment option?

1) Create a SnapScan Account

To make use of SnapScan payment options in Craft Pay, you'll have to register as a merchant with SnapScan. It’s really easy and this guide will show you exactly what to do. If you’re already a SnapScan merchant, skip ahead to point 2, otherwise, read on.

Sgn up right now via their Merchant Portal. They'll need your business information, your bank details, and FICA/KYC documentation. Once your account is verified, you can integrate SnapScan into your Craft invoices automatically.

You can complete the entire registration process online. Their team will review your account within one business day and will email you if they need anything further.

Since the whole process is completed remotely, a cool-down period of 7 days applies to all new merchants, which means you'll receive your first settlement after the first week of accepting payments.

2) Find Your SnapCode

Once your SnapScan account has been created and verified, you’ll need to grab your unique SnapCode and put it into your Craft Pay settings.

You can find your SnapCode in SnapScan, by navigating to Payment methods and then to Your SnapCodes in your SnapScan menu. You will then see your SnapCode, which you can copy and paste into your Craft Pay page in your Craft settings. Please do NOT enter the SnapLink.

How do I mark an invoice as paid?

Craft helps you keep track of who has and hasn’t paid you. To record an invoice as paid, simply go to the Payments page and click ‘Record new payment’. Then you just need to fill in the customer, invoice and payment details.
